Disability Insurance FAQ
Your paycheck helps you cover bills, keep a roof over your head and provide for your family. But what if one day you get sick or injured and can't work? How long could you afford life without income?
Is disability insurance right for me?
If any of the following statements are true for you, disability insurance is probably something you should consider.
- If taking a few weeks off of work would cause you to fall behind in monthly bills;
- Your savings are small or earmarked for other goals;
- You couldn't afford the extra costs of a disability - like deductibles, medicine, in-home care, or extra help around the house;
- Your family and friends can't pitch in what you would need - especially over time;
- You've got other policies, but they won't cover all of your expenses;
- You've got a mortgage, car loan, or other debts;
- You get hurt off the job. Worker's Compensation may cover on-the-job injuries, but about three-fifths of disabling injuries suffered by workers in 1999 occurred off-the-job.
If you can answer yes to any of these statements, please contact us for more information on the options you have to cover you in the event of you becoming disabled.
Do I really need disability insurance?
Consider this: If you're like the rest of us, you probably don't have much of a cushion for the unexpected. And although we don't like to think it will ever happen, we've all got a 1 in 3 chance of becoming disabled during our working years. And if it happens off the job, like 75% of disabling injuries do, you can't rely on Worker's Comp. You also can't count on Social Security. Only a third of the people who apply for benefits actually qualify. That's why there's disability insurance.
- 74.2% of disabled workers receive a monthly benefit of less than $1000.
- 48% of home foreclosures are do to disability.
- Between the ages of 35 to 65, seven out of ten people will become disabled for three months or longer.
- The chances of using your homeowners insurance is about 1 in 88; your auto insurance is about 1 in 47; your disability insurance is about 2 in 5.

What does disability insurance do?
If you get hurt or sick and can't earn your regular paycheck, disability income insurance can pay you a monthly benefit amount. With it, you can help make ends meek until you're back at work.
How much can I get a month from disability insurance?
The insurance we offer is a source of income when you can't work because of injury or illness. It has a benefit plan that you can choose, from $400 to $7,000, up to 60% of your monthly income. You also have your choice of benefit periods, how long you get payments for. There are also optional benefits for accidents, policy upgrades and inflation protection.
